Follow the ratification
of the European Constitution
The citizens and
European States have all been called upon to ratify the
European Constitution signed in Rome by all of the Heads
of State and Government on October 29, 2004. Each
country will decide on the most appropriate manner to
ratify the Constitution between 2004-2006 in accordance
with each member’s constitutional policies. Some will
turn to their parliament, while others will call on
their citizens to express their opinion of the text
directly by referendum as in France among ten other
Union Member States. The events in the near future will
provide numerous opportunities to discuss Europe. This
chapter will be dedicated to the following developments
in the ratification period in France and across Europe.
